From a very young age, when I started playing guitar, I became very frustrated by the fact that I couldn't improvise and solo comfortably. Since it was always lost on the fretboard and had no structure, much less a visible result. I didn't leave small pre-established spaces and I felt trapped, which resulted in a lack of creativity and a lot of frustration at not being able to be free, making my playing more insecure. Having discovered and improved the X Mold Method forever changed the way we make music.
How I Discovered the X MOLD METHOD
Since I was young, I realized something special: playing guitar well didn’t just make people feel good, it also gave me the chance to connect with people all around the world, no matter the language or culture. The guitar’s power to break down barriers pushed me to keep going, to improve, and to learn everything I could. But even with my progress, I felt like something was missing. I wanted to move freely all over the guitar neck, and most importantly, I wanted to improvise and create music like it was speaking in a natural way. That was the spark that started my journey of discovery.
But, like any journey, there were moments of doubt. Sometimes you feel alone, like you’re doing something that not many others have tried. I decided to step out of my comfort zone, travel to other cities, meet new cultures and musicians, but without knowing everything I needed to know. I just had this strong feeling that I had to be a better musician, that there was more to discover. However, the feeling of being lost and not having a clear path forward frustrated me a lot.
The solution came in an unexpected way. One day, while I was on a road trip with my parents, I saw a bridge, and something about the columns holding it up made me think. It was like a light bulb lit up. I realized that those columns were like positions on the guitar neck. If I could master those “columns,” I could move freely across the neck, like a bridge connecting different paths, keys, phrases, arpeggios, licks, ideas, etc. That was when the X MOLD METHOD was born in my mind.
When I started using this method, I not only improved my ability to improvise in rock, jazz, tango, and classical music, but it also helped me get much faster at preparing projects. My sight-reading and improvisation got way better. And the most surprising thing was: when I started teaching this method to my students, I saw how quickly their understanding of the guitar changed. They seemed happier, playing with more freedom and less frustration, and that made me realize the real power of this method.
